I think this is a brilliant mission.

Gary Wood and I are putting pen to paper to see what ideas we can come up with.

Hello Spike

Gary Wood and I have already done some thinking. They may not be the best ideas, but may trigger off a creative thought elsewhere. So I'll share all.

As you may have already seen on standinaqueue Gary Wood would like conga music to play while people wait.

This made us laugh a lot. And we furthered the idea by having conga music come on only if there are six or more people in the queue (any less than that and it simply isn't a conga).

We thought this would be especially great at night and maybe with some coloured lights flashing onto the queue.

Going with the dance theme, we also thought that maybe you could have the foxtrot or some other 'classical' dance music playing and then on the ground you would see drawings of the steps for the dance.

And so at the back of the queue would be the very basic steps (coloured footprints on the floor) of the dance which would get progressively more complicated as the person queuing moved further along the queue.

And so by the end of the queue, next to the cashpoint, the customer would have learnt a dance move for the music playing.

Each cashpoint could have a different dance playing with different steps to learn.

That's it so far.

We'll let you know if we come up with any more.

hi william,

a conga line would be quite fun,
and antonia and i spoke earlier in our initial
brainstorm about possibly a dance, a tango...
something nice about the footprints on the ground
since i've seen a few queues that have them
to point out distances people should keep in the queue. gonna do some observations for a couple weeks, and then hopefully get some information
to go off of based on audience and time waits...
cheers and speak soon! spike
